Speechify is seeking a senior Windows desktop engineer to design and ship robust apps using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and C++. You will own feature lifecycles, enforce architectural standards, optimize performance, and drive accessibility across products for millions of users.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop app development using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML.
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture, including interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record of designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications with reliability and performance.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and a dedication to accessible software.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive consensus.
• User-centric mindset focused on polished, accessible end-user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and — when needed — C++.
• Define and enforce best-practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase: architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility.
• Drive accessibility efforts: integrate and validate accessibility APIs, ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap for Windows platform.
• Take ownership of full lifecycle of features: conception to maintenance, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, or compatibility problems.
