Job summary

Speechify is seeking a senior Windows desktop engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML. You will collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning and the long-term roadmap for the Windows platform.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop app development using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and ideally experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).
• Deep understanding of Windows application architecture and interop between managed (.NET) and native code.
• Proven track record of designing and shipping production-quality desktop apps with focus on reliability and performance.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and building accessible software.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, and multi-threading.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and possibly C++.
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase, including performance and cross-version compatibility.
• Drive accessibility efforts: UI Automation and other accessibility frameworks to ensure usable software.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap for Windows platform.
• Own full lifecycle of features from conception to release and maintenance, ensuring quality and reliability across releases.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and rendering/compatibility issues.
