Job summary

Speechify seeks a senior Windows desktop engineer to design, architect, and ship production-grade apps using Windows App SDK and WinUI. You will collaborate with product designers, QA, and peers to plan features and ensure accessibility from day one.

You will own end-to-end development, drive performance and reliability, mentor others, and shape the long-term Windows roadmap in a distributed, office-free company.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop app development using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML; familiarity with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture and interop between .NET and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production desktop apps with focus on reliability, performance and maintainability.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and building accessible software.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory mgmt, multi-threading.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, and conducting code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed.
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts ensuring UI automation, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap.
• Own full lifecycle of features from conception to release and maintenance.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, and rendering issues.
