Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications in Bloomington, IN, USA. You will drive quality, performance, and accessibility across the Windows platform.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with design and QA, and help shape long-term product direction while shipping production-ready desktop software.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop app development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML.
• Deep understanding of interop between .NET and native code (C++/Win32).
• Proven track record shipping production-quality desktop apps with reliability, performance, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and—when needed—C++.
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase: architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability.
• Drive accessibility efforts: integrate and validate accessibility APIs, ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and usability for users with disabilities.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and long-term roadmap for Windows platform.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, or compatibility problems and propose robust solutions.
