Job summary

Speechify in the United States is seeking a senior Windows desktop engineer to design, build, and own the Windows platform. You will lead architecture, implement robust UI using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML, and ensure accessibility and performance across releases.

You will collaborate with designers, UX researchers, QA, and product teams while mentoring others and shaping the long-term Windows roadmap. This is a high-impact, autonomous role in a distributed team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML - additional native Windows code experience is a plus.
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture, including interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production desktop apps with focus on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and building accessible software.
• Solid fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading/async.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and making architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ when needed.
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts and ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and roadmap.
• Take ownership of full lifecycle of features from conception to release and maintenance.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems.
