Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and development of native Windows desktop applications on Anchorage, AK. You will drive architecture, performance, and accessibility across the Windows platform, collaborating with designers, QA, and product teams to shape a long-term roadmap.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in Windows desktop development with Windows App SDK/WinUI, C#, XAML, and optional C++ expertise.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop app development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML; ideally experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture, including interop between managed (.NET) and native code.
• Proven track record of shipping production-quality desktop apps emphasizing reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Strong accessibility experience on Windows and commitment to accessible software.
• Solid fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading or async programming.
• Experience leading design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Excellent communication; ability to articulate tradeoffs and drive consensus.
• User-centric mindset focused on polished, accessible user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop apps using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and optionally C++.
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase—architecture, performance, memory, and cross-version compatibility.
• Drive accessibility efforts: ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap for Windows.
• Identify and diagnose complex bugs and performance bottlenecks; propose robust architectural solutions.
