Job summary

Speechify is hiring a Windows desktop platform engineer to design, implement, and ship high-quality desktop apps across Windows using Windows App SDK and WinUI. You will work with C#, XAML, and some C++ interop to build reliable, accessible experiences.

You will collaborate with designers, QA, and product to plan features and set the long-term roadmap for the Windows product, mentoring peers and driving architectural decisions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop app development using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML; experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM) is a plus.
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture and interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production desktop apps with reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and delivering accessible software.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and multi-threading.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams; user-centric mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ where needed.
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts: validate Microsoft UI Automation and other accessibility frameworks; ensure keyboard navigation and screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders on feature planning and long-term roadmap for Windows platform.
• Own full lifecycle of features from conception through release and maintenance; ensure quality and reliability.
• Identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and cross-version compatibility.
