Job summary

Speechify, a leading text-to-speech software company, seeks an experienced Windows desktop engineer to design, build, and ship cross-version Windows apps using Windows App SDK and WinUI. You will drive architecture decisions, collaborate with product and UX, and own features end-to-end.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in Windows desktop development, strong C#/XAML skills, and a passion for accessible, high-performance software.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK and WinUI (or similar).
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture, including interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record designing, building, shipping production-quality desktop apps with emphasis on reliability and performance.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and commitment to accessible software.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading/async.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed.
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts: UI Automation, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap for Windows platform.
• Take ownership of full lifecycle of features from conception to release and maintenance.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, and rendering/compatibility issues.
