Job summary

Speechify seeks an experienced Windows desktop developer to own the Windows product line. You will design, implement, and ship native apps using WinUI, C#, XAML, and optional C++ across Windows 10/11+.

You will lead accessibility, performance, and cross-version compatibility, and mentor engineers while shaping the long-term roadmap with product and QA partners. The role emphasizes architecture leadership, collaboration across disciplines, and a user-centric, high-quality software approach.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML — and ideally additional experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).
• Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record of designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications with reliability and performance.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and a commitment to accessible software.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading or async programming.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Strong communication skills; able to articulate tradeoffs and collaborate cross-functionally.
• User-centric mindset: building polished and accessible user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or related UI frameworks), C#, XAML, and — when needed — C++.
• Define and enforce best-practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase, including architecture, performance, memory usage, and cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+).
• Drive accessibility efforts: integrate and validate support for accessibility APIs, ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and accessibility for users with disabilities.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and long-term Windows roadmap.
• Take ownership of full lifecycle of features: conception → design → implementation → testing → release → maintenance.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, or compatibility problems and propose robust solutions.
