Job summary

Deriva Energy, a Brookfield Renewable U.S. portfolio company, seeks a Senior Renewables Technologist based in Brookings, SD. You will lead technical support for wind turbine gearbox and generator maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and reliability initiatives across the fleet.

You’ll oversee diagnostics, develop governance for major component repairs, mentor staff, and ensure safe, high-quality field work while collaborating with OEMs and contractors.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Wind Energy or related field with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• In lieu of an associate's degree, a High School Diploma/GED with 6 years of relevant experience.
• Experience leading major component exchanges and troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical failures.

Responsibilities

• Requires 50% travel throughout the United States and working outdoors in varied conditions.
• SME for wind turbine gearbox, generator, and drivetrain troubleshooting, repair, and reliability improvements.
• Leads major component exchanges involving gearboxes, generators, bearings, couplings and related equipment.
• Provides technical guidance during root cause analysis of failures and lubrication issues.
• Reviews inspection findings and develops corrective action plans to improve fleet reliability.
• Performs advanced diagnostics using vibration and oil analysis, borescope, thermography and electrical testing.
• Partners with OEMs and contractors to evaluate repair methods and new technologies.
• Ensures safety, quality and consistency across multiple sites through leadership and planning.
• Develops technical procedures, repair standards and QA processes for major repairs.
• Prepares detailed technical reports, failure analyses and recommendations.
• Assists in training programs and curriculum for drivetrain maintenance and major repairs.
• Coaches and mentors other technologists in troubleshooting techniques.
• Maintains repair histories to support reliability engineering and asset management.
• Represents the company professionally and promotes a safety-first culture.
