Job summary

Deriva Energy, a Brookfield Renewable company, seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer in Charlotte, NC. You will solve complex power-system problems, model distributed and transmission systems, and support wind, solar and storage projects with minimal supervision.

Travel and after-hours on-call support are expected as part of project execution. You will collaborate across departments, prepare technical reports, and guide junior staff while advancing renewable energy technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Five (5) years or more of relevant engineering experience and state registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) OR 6 years related work experience without state registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Must be able and willing to travel to various locations to support area manager's various sites on a frequent basis (Up to 10% travel).
• Must be able to respond to Electrical Engineering & Plant Support outside normal working hours (Team 24/7 on-call rotation).

• Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in identifying, analyzing and resolving problems of increasing scope and complexity.
• Plans, organizes, estimates, schedules and monitors work activities to meet business goals.
• Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, calculations and sketches.
• Conducts engineering studies and completes non-routine projects with minimal oversight.
• Demonstrates strong communication and documentation skills and maintains accurate records.
• Collaborates with multiple departments, suppliers and customers to support power system projects.
