Job summary

AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER is seeking a Wind Technician to support the Braman facility in Oklahoma. You will assist in start-up, operation, and shutdown of turbine systems, perform inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting, and help ensure safety and reliability of plant equipment.

The role requires 2 years in wind or power plant settings, a valid driver's license, and the ability to meet climbing requirements. On-site work with the AEP team offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate’s degree in wind, electrical, mechanical or related technology is preferred.
Experience: 2 years in the wind industry or power plant generation operations/maintenance.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid state driver’s license; willingness to complete climbing test.
Experience with SCADA and power plant control systems is preferred.
Familiarity with software like PI, PaSTA, Maximo or similar is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist in coordinating OEM and contractor oversight, inspections and repairs to wind turbines and balance of plant equipment.
Operate valves, pumps, breakers, and controls; monitor and diagnose equipment conditions.
Perform basic mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting and repair tasks.
Contribute to safety, health and environmental programs; participate in training and meetings.
Assist with warehouse inventory and using work management systems for PMs and work orders.
