Job summary

AEP is seeking a Wind Technician to support facility and wind teams in safe, efficient operation of turbines, transformers, and related equipment. You will participate in inspections, start-up/shutdown procedures, and overhauls while maintaining electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.

You will collaborate with OEMs, monitor plant performance, and use data tools to analyze trends. Travel, climbing tests, and adherence to safety policies are required to ensure reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years of wind industry experience as a Wind Technician or related work in power generation.
• Climbing test must be successfully completed.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• Travel is required; familiarity with SCADA and power plant control systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and health compliance in daily operations.
• Assist OEMs/contractors with inspections, monitoring, and repairs of turbines and plant equipment.
• Operate and troubleshoot wind turbine components and balance of plant systems.
• Analyze equipment data, investigate abnormalities, and support performance upgrades.
• Maintain records, prepare reports, and update work orders and maintenance logs.
• Assist in on-site climbing/rescue, first aid, and emergency response.
