Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking a Senior Welding Engineer – Automated Systems to lead welding technical teams at the Pewaukee, WI area plant. This on-site, 1st shift role focuses on weld process development, WPS/PQR qualification, and code compliance (AWS D1.1, ASME IX) for complex automation projects.

You will mentor Robotic Welding Technicians, review robot weld paths, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to meet strict customer and code requirements, with opportunities for travel

Qualifications

• 5 to 8+ years of welding engineering experience or robotic welding leadership.
• Deep capability in GMAW/MIG, GTAW/TIG, robotic arc, and laser welding.
• Proven track record developing, qualifying welding procedures (WPS/PQR).
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX welding codes.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for Robotic Welding Technicians, troubleshoot weld programs, and conduct root cause analysis.
• Develop, document, and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and welding parameters for new materials and configurations.
• Select welding processes and evaluate fixtures and cell layouts for consistency and access.
• Investigate nonconformances, implement corrective actions, ensure code compliance with AWS D1.1 and ASME IX.
• Support project estimating with weld process feasibility, cycle times, and equipment needs.
• Assist in integration and commissioning of new equipment; travel to client facilities for startup.
