Job summary

Sora Resource Group in Pewaukee, WI seeks a Senior Welding Engineer to lead robotic welding initiatives and ensure AWS D1.1 and ASME IX compliance across complex automation projects. You will mentor Robotic Welding Technicians, develop and qualify welding procedures (WPS/PQR), review weld paths, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to meet stringent customer and code requirements on-site.

The role requires 5–8+ years in welding engineering, a Bachelor’s in a relevant field, and

Qualifications

5 to 8+ years in welding engineering, weld process development, or robotic welding leadership.
Deep capability in GMAW/MIG, GTAW/TIG, robotic arc welding, laser welding.
Proven WPS/PQR development and defect resolution in production or automation environments.
Familiar with AWS D1.1 and ASME IX welding codes.
Citizenship or green card holder residing within Pewaukee commuting distance.

Responsibilities

Act as technical lead for Robotic Welding Technicians with hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Develop, document, and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and parameters for new materials and configurations.
Select welding processes and review fixtures/cell layouts with design engineers for repeatability.
Investigate nonconformances, implement corrective actions, and ensure code compliance (AWS D1.1, ASME IX).
Provide technical input on project estimates for weld feasibility, cycle times, and equipment needs.
Support equipment integration, robot commissioning, and startup at client facilities as needed.
