Job summary

Accura Engineering is seeking a Construction Inspector specializing in Welding and Coating to support federal facilities in the Youngstown/Pittsburgh area. The role requires extensive welding, coating, and bolting inspection experience, with AWS CWI certification and ASNT/NACE credentials preferred.

Duties include evaluating workmanship, materials, and installation; enforcing QA/safety plans; coordinating with project teams; and managing inspection processes across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 5 years of construction welding inspections and 2 years of coating inspections and structural bolting inspections.
• AWS CWI with QC1; minimum 5 years related to steel fabrication.
• NDT personnel qualified to ASNT.
• Coating inspection with NACE Level I or SSPC Coatings Inspector Level 1; 2+ years in coating testing.
• Structural bolting inspection certification per AASHTO G4.2 preferred.
• Experience with Three-Phase QC/Inspection process.
• EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual experience preferred.
• Experience with Resident Management System (RMS).

Responsibilities

• Observe, inspect, and report on construction projects at federal facilities for compliance with workmanship, materials, installation, and methods.
• Perform welding inspections for steel fabrication.
• Conduct coating inspections and test various coating systems.
• Inspect structural bolting methods and installations.
• Review and advise government personnel on contract plans and specs across all construction phases.
• Monitor contractor quality system and manage the three-phase inspection process.
• Provide site surveillance and assist owner in problem resolution.
• Review change orders, RFIs, submittals, and modifications.
• Ensure QA and safety plans are followed by the contractor.
