Job summary

Yahoo Mail is seeking a Sr Software Web Engineer to lead feature development for our web inbox, owning end-to-end delivery from design to production monitoring.

In this role you will apply AI-assisted tooling to accelerate implementation while upholding security, accessibility, and performance across large-scale web systems. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to ship high-impact features.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent with 6+ years in high-scale web apps.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, software architecture and web performance.
• Deep command of modern web frameworks (React, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript) and modern styling (Atomic CSS).
• Hands-on experience with front-end build and testing tools (Webpack, Jest, Playwright, RTL).
• Experience using AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code) and integrating AI into daily workflows.
• Commitment to secure, accessible, scalable production code in CI/CD environments.

Responsibilities

• Feature Leadership & Delivery: Define, design, develop, and ship high-impact features for Yahoo Mail web products, owning deliverables end-to-end.
• AI-First Workflow Orchestration: Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate implementation while maintaining architectural integrity, code quality, and security.
• Lifecycle Optimization: Identify AI-driven efficiencies across the software lifecycle, reducing boilerplate and manual tasks.
• Technical Judgment & Oversight: Balance AI outputs with rigorous manual review for correctness, security, and performance.
• High-Scale Impact: Own key Yahoo Mail web components and solve complex engineering challenges at massive scale.
• Quality & Collaboration: Conduct code reviews and collaborate with PMs, designers, and engineers to ship improvements.
• Operational Excellence: Write clean code and deploy, monitor, and maintain large-scale production systems.
• Mentorship & Innovation: Mentor engineers, promote AI-assisted development, and evaluate new tooling.
