Job summary

Yahoo Mail is seeking a Sr Software Web Engineer to lead major features for Yahoo Mail web products, owning design, development, and deployment end-to-end on a global scale. The role emphasizes AI-first workflow orchestration, code quality, security, accessibility, and high-availability web systems.

You'll work with product managers, UX, and cross-functional partners, review code, mentor teammates, and help expand AI-assisted tooling while shipping scalable customer-facing features in a CI/CD

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience with 6+ years of professional software engineering on high-scale web applications.
• Strong fundamentals in Data Structures, Algorithms, Software Architecture, and Web Performance Optimization.
• Deep command of modern web frameworks (React, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript) and styling methodologies (Atomic CSS, CSS3).
• Hands-on proficiency with AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code) integrated into daily software design, development, and debugging workflows.
• Experience with modern front-end build and testing tools (Webpack, Redux Toolkit, Storybook, Jest, Playwright, React Testing Library).
• Demonstrated ability to write structured prompts, evaluate AI-generated outputs, and iterate on AI suggestions to produce robust, secure production code.

Responsibilities

• Define, design, develop, and ship high-impact features for Yahoo Mail web products, owning deliverables end-to-end from technical architecture through production monitoring.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate web application implementation while maintaining architectural integrity, code quality, and security standards.
• Identify and implement AI-driven efficiencies across the software development lifecycle, replacing boilerplate code with automated AI-validated workflows.
• Balance AI-generated code outputs with rigorous manual review to ensure correctness, security, and accessibility.
• Take end-to-end technical ownership of key Yahoo Mail web components and address scale challenges in production.
• Perform thorough, constructive code reviews and collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and cross-functional partners.
• Write clean, testable code and deploy, monitor, and maintain large-scale production web systems distributed globally.
• Mentor engineers to elevate standards and scale AI-assisted development practices.
