Job summary

Yahoo Mail is seeking a Sr Software Web Engineer to lead end-to-end feature development for Yahoo Mail web products, with emphasis on AI-first workflows and scalable architecture. You will ship high-impact features, review AI-generated outputs, and ensure code quality across a global production stack.

You will collaborate with PMs, UX designers, and cross-functional teams to drive performance, accessibility, and security while mentoring squad engineers and advancing AI-powered development

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering (or equivalent) with 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, software architecture, and web performance optimization.
• Deep command of modern web frameworks (React, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript) and modern styling methodologies (Atomic CSS, CSS3).
• Hands-on experience with modern front-end build and testing tools (Webpack, Redux Toolkit, Storybook, Jest, Playwright, React Testing Library).
• Experience using AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code) integrated into daily software design, development, and debugging workflows.

Responsibilities

• Feature Leadership & Delivery: Define, design, develop, and ship high-impact features for Yahoo Mail web products, owning deliverables end-to-end from technical architecture through production monitoring.
• AI-First Workflow Orchestration: Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate web application implementation while maintaining architectural integrity, code quality, and security standards.
• Lifecycle Optimization: Identify and implement AI-driven efficiencies across the software development lifecycle, replacing boilerplate code with automated workflows.
• Technical Judgment & Oversight: Balance AI-generated code outputs with rigorous manual review to ensure correctness, security, and performance.
• High-Scale Impact: Take end-to-end technical ownership of key Yahoo Mail web components, solving complex engineering and user experience challenges at massive scale.
• Quality & Collaboration: Conduct thorough code reviews and collaborate with PMs, designers, and partners to deliver platform improvements and fixes.
• Operational Excellence: Write clean, testable code and deploy, monitor, and maintain large-scale production web systems.
• Mentorship & Innovation: Mentor engineers to elevate standards and evaluate tooling for AI-assisted development.
