Job summary

Yahoo Mail is seeking an experienced Web Engineer to lead features for Yahoo Mail’s web products. You will own architecture, development, and production monitoring, balancing AI-generated outputs with rigorous reviews.

You will work across product, design, and engineering with a focus on performance, accessibility, and security at global scale while leveraging AI tooling and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering (or equivalent experience) with 6+ years of professional software engineering experience on high-scale web applications.
• Strong fundamentals in Data Structures, Algorithms, Software Architecture, and Web Performance Optimization.
• Deep technical command of modern web frameworks (React, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript) and modern styling methodologies (Atomic CSS, CSS3).
• Solid hands‑on experience with modern front‑end build and testing tools (Webpack, Redux Toolkit, Storybook, Jest, Playwright, React Testing Library).
• Hands‑on proficiency with AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code) integrated into daily software design, development, and debugging workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to write structured prompts, evaluate AI-generated outputs, and iterate on AI suggestions to produce robust, secure production code.
• Active commitment to validating AI‑assisted code to prevent security vulnerabilities, hallucinations, edge‑case failures, and performance regressions.
• Strong track record of shipping and operating scalable customer‑facing web features in a CI/CD environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative, growth‑oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Define, design, develop, and ship high-impact features for Yahoo Mail web products, owning end-to-end delivery.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate web app implementation while maintaining code quality and security.
• Identify and implement AI-driven efficiencies across the software lifecycle.
• Balance AI outputs with manual review to ensure correctness and performance.
• Take end-to-end technical ownership of key Yahoo Mail web components.
• Perform thorough code reviews and collaborate with Product, UX, and cross-functional partners.
• Write clean, testable code and deploy, monitor, and maintain large-scale production systems.
• Mentor engineers to elevate standards and explore new tooling.
