Job summary

Inframark is seeking a Water/Wastewater Utilities Manager to lead municipal water and/or wastewater operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance for a client utility. The role requires hands-on leadership, a higher level operator license, and strong relationship management with city leadership and regulators.

You will oversee budgets, safety, and performance while developing staff and ensuring high-quality service across treatment facilities and distribution systems.

Qualifications

• Active highest-level state Water Operator or Wastewater Operator License (or ability to obtain reciprocity).
• Minimum of 7 years in municipal water and/or wastewater operations and maintenance.
• Experience leading municipal utility operations, treatment facilities, and maintenance teams.
• Strong knowledge of treatment processes, regulatory compliance, asset management, and utility operations.
• Experience working with municipalities, public utilities, city leadership, utility boards, and regulatory agencies.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for municipal water and/or wastewater treatment operations and maintenance.
• Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of treatment facilities, distribution and collection systems.
• Serve as the senior operational authority and hands-on operator when needed.
• Develop, implement, and improve operating procedures, maintenance programs and performance standards.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance reliability, compliance, efficiency, and customer service.
• Build and maintain relationships with municipal clients, elected officials, boards and regulators.
• Present updates on operations, compliance, financials, and capital projects to city leadership.
• Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain operations staff; coach and manage performance.
• Maintain full compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations; lead inspections and reporting.
• Develop and administer annual operating and capital budgets; monitor financial performance.
• Ensure contract compliance and pursue growth opportunities through renewals and expansions.
