Job summary

American States Utility Services, Inc. is seeking a skilled Utility Technician II to perform water and wastewater system maintenance and inspections. The role involves repairing mains, meters, hydrants, and backflow devices, and reading blueprints and system maps.

You will operate heavy machinery, respond to service orders, and coordinate with customers while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. A valid CDL and state operator certification are required, with training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license and commercial driver’s license are required.
• State operator certification for water/wastewater required; backflow certification may be required.
• Must pass OSHA/USACE/state safety training with annual refreshers.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints and maps.

Responsibilities

• Under minimal supervision, performs water and wastewater system maintenance, including water quality and supply.
• Inspects, installs, repairs, tests, and certifies water mains, meters, hydrants, and backflow devices.
• Inspects and maintains sewer lines, lift stations, and video inspection equipment.
• Responds to service orders, marks utility locations, and notifies customers of outages.
• Operates heavy machinery and completes work orders and paperwork.
• Interacts with customers professionally and assists with escalated issues.
