Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support our Water/Wastewater practice across the New England area. This hybrid role can be based in Greater Boston, Providence, RI or Glastonbury, CT, with travel to local offices as needed.

You will lead technical design efforts for drinking water and wastewater systems, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and contribute to proposals while mentoring junior staff. The role emphasizes client interaction and project leadership.

Qualifications

• Proven writing skills to prepare technical memoranda, reports, proposals, and contracts.
• Supervisory skills and willingness to train junior staff.
• Experience coordinating efforts of other disciplines and outside consultants.
• Ability to interact effectively with clients.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordination and execution of projects.
• Monitor performance on a weekly basis within prescribed budgets.
• Develop scopes, fees, and schedules with sub-consultants under guidance.
• Provide technical solutions on complex projects and support scope of work.
• Lead construction administration tasks and progress meetings.
• Coordinate with Project Managers to gain project management experience.
• Mentor less experienced staff and contribute to annual reviews.
• Prepare and deliver proposals, schedules and fee estimates.
• Maintain quality control and review designs, calculations and basis of design.
• Attend client meetings and present project deliverables.
