Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the Water/Wastewater practice across the New England area. This hybrid role can be based in Greater Boston, Providence, RI, or Glastonbury, CT, with travel to local offices as needed.

The role focuses on drinking water and wastewater systems design, leading technical teams, and delivering high-quality solutions for clients. A PE license and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of drinking water, water supply or wastewater design experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or pursuing licensure within one year.
• Proven writing skills to prepare technical memoranda, reports, proposals, and contracts.
• Supervisory experience and ability to train junior staff.
• Experience coordinating multiple disciplines and outside consultants.
• Ability to interact effectively with clients.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Project Manager in planning, coordination, and execution of projects.
• Works within budgets and monitors performance weekly.
• Develops scopes, fees, and schedules with sub-consultants under PM guidance.
• Develops technical solutions for complex projects and assists in all scope aspects.
• Ensures adherence to project schedules and budgets, reporting progress.
• Collaborates with Project Managers for project management experience and financial performance.
• Serves as Technical Lead for complex projects, coordinating design disciplines and subconsultants.
• Supervises and trains less experienced staff and supports annual reviews.
• Prepares proposals with technical approach, schedules, and fee estimates.
• Maintains quality control by reviewing designs, calculations, and basis of design.
• Attends client meetings and may present project deliverables.
• Leads construction administration tasks and tracks schedules.
• Contributes to corporate goals on quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
• Advises PM on contract terms, liabilities, and concerns.
• Participates in external associations and conferences; may present papers.
• Identifies potential claims with documentation and reporting.
