Job summary

ExcelliSearch, Inc. is seeking a Water Resources Design Engineer (Water or Wastewater) based in Parsippany or Sparta, NJ, with hybrid flexibility.

You will design water and wastewater facilities, pumping stations, storage, and network systems to meet NJDEP, EPA, and SDWA standards while prioritizing operability and constructability. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 5-10 years of hands on water and wastewater design experience.
• PE license, or close enough that you will have it within roughly six to twelve months.
• Strong working knowledge of NJDEP regulations and permitting, plus the relevant federal standards: EPA, CWA, SDWA.
• AutoCAD, and the technical writing to produce reports and specifications that stand on their own.
• A genuine preference for staying technical.
• Strongly preferred: treatment plant and pumping station design.
• Nice to have: experience with funding applications and the State Revolving Fund process, and with municipal and utility clients.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineering. Plan and design water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, storage facilities, and distribution and collection systems to standards.
• Feasibility and planning studies. Hydraulic, process and environmental evaluations under EPA and NJDEP guidelines.
• Technical documentation. Engineering calculations, reports, technical specifications, cost estimates and contract documents conforming to NJDEP regulations and NPDES permitting criteria.
• Regulatory coordination. Lead and support permitting: NJPDES permits, Treatment Works Approvals, and the Bureau of Water System Engineering.
• Site investigations. Field assessments and site inspections supporting both design and construction phase work.
• Cross disciplinary collaboration. Work with the structural, civil and MEP groups internally, and with vendors and subcontractors.
• Mentorship. Bring the junior engineering staff along on technical work, regulatory knowledge and design procedure.
