Job summary

Markent Personnel, Inc. is representing a northern New Jersey consulting firm seeking a Water Resources Design Engineer (Water or Wastewater) in Parsippany or Sparta, NJ.

The role is hybrid with real flexibility and focuses on technical design, not project management. Responsibilities include designing facilities to standards, performing feasibility studies, producing specs and cost estimates, and coordinating regulatory permits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or closely related field.
• 5–10 years of hands-on water and wastewater design experience.
• PE license or near completion within 6–12 months.
• Strong knowledge of NJDEP regulations and permitting; EPA, CWA, SDWA familiarity.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and able to produce independent reports and specs.
• Preference for remaining in a technical design role.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer water and wastewater facilities, pumping stations, storage and distribution systems per standards.
• Conduct feasibility and planning studies under EPA/NJDEP guidelines.
• Prepare calculations, reports, specs, and contract documents.
• Lead regulatory coordination for NJPDES permits and related approvals.
• Perform site investigations and coordinate cross-disciplinary work.
• Mentor junior staff on technical work and design procedures.
