Job summary

Food Management Search, Inc. seeks a Water Resources Design Engineer (Water or Wastewater) in Parsippany or Sparta, New Jersey. The role is hybrid with flexibility.

You will lead design efforts for water and wastewater systems, ensuring compliance with key regulations and quality standards. The position targets a senior candidate with 5–10 years of hands-on experience, a PE license (or near) and strong AutoCAD/technical writing skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• 5-10 years of hands-on water and wastewater design experience.
• PE license, or close enough that you will have it within roughly six to twelve months.
• Strong working knowledge of NJDEP regulations and federal standards: EPA, CWA, SDWA.
• AutoCAD and the technical writing to produce reports and specifications that stand on their own.
• A genuine preference for staying technical.
• Nice to have: experience with funding applications and the State Revolving Fund process, and with municipal and utility clients.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineering. Plan and design water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, storage facilities, and distribution and collection systems to standards and regulations.
• Feasibility and planning studies. Hydraulic, process and environmental evaluations under EPA and NJDEP guidelines.
• Technical documentation. Engineering calculations, reports, specifications, cost estimates and contract documents conforming to NJDEP regulations and permitting criteria.
• Regulatory coordination. Lead and support permitting and related approvals.
• Site investigations. Field assessments and inspections supporting design and construction.
• Cross disciplinary collaboration. Coordinate with structural, civil and MEP groups and vendors to deliver integrated packages.
• Mentorship. Guide junior staff on technical work and regulatory knowledge.
