Job summary

KLJ in Billings, MT seeks a Water Resources Engineer with a current PE license to lead hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and client relationships. You will guide design and modeling of stormwater, flood mitigation, culverts, and bridges, mentor junior staff, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering, 6+ years of water resources experience, and strong leadership and communication

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Active Professional Engineer license.
• 6+ years water resources experience.
• Strong background in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling.
• Proficiency with engineering software and modeling tools.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
• Lead teams to develop and apply models using industry software.
• Evaluate drainage systems, floodplain impacts, culvert sizing, bridge hydraulics, and stormwater strategies.
• Guide junior staff and review calculations, reports, designs, specs, and cost estimates.
• Ensure designs comply with regulations.
