Job summary

Banc of California, Inc. is seeking a Senior Vice President, Originator in California to expand client relationships with venture-backed technology firms and to lead origination efforts with VC firms.

You will structure debt financing, support existing clients, and promote a full product suite while leveraging specialist teams as needed. The role targets growth in venture debt opportunities, involves marketing through events, and requires close collaboration with venture capital and growth

Qualifications

• 8+ years of venture technology innovation banking is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree and/or relevant work experience or training.
• Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position including but not limited to the following: Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Fair Housing Act (FHA), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Customer Information Program (CIP), Right to Financial Privacy Act (RFPA, state and federal) and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).
• High School diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Play an integral part in origination activities to grow on balance sheet deposits, loan commitments, loan outstandings, and non-interest income, while managing credit risk.
• Leverage an existing personal network of venture capital, growth equity, private equity firms, and entrepreneurial ecosystem contacts to self-generate new loan clients.
• Own the primary day to day relationships with key contacts in your ecosystem.
• Source high quality deals and sponsor them through underwriting, structuring and credit committee process and closing.
• Assist portfolio team in managing existing relationships and adding value to the relationships.
• Assist portfolio team in adding loans, deposits and GTM products to existing relationships.
• Manage documentation, negotiating terms, and closing credit requests with limited assistance or counsel.
• Adhere to all corporate compliance and regulatory needs including training (Reg B, NOD, CDD, etc.).
• Assist in developing less experienced Bankers and Analysts in your area of influence.
• Interviewing and hiring decisions involvement.
• Prepare and deliver employee performance evaluations, goal planning, and counseling.
• Manage, support, coach and train employees.
• Follow all established policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
