Job summary

WSP is seeking a Vice President, Structural Engineering to lead the New Jersey team, focusing on highway bridges, rail and transit structures, and related services in Lawrenceville, NJ (Morristown possible). The role oversees delivery for public sector clients such as NJDOT, NJTA, and NJ Transit, directing project teams and ensuring quality and compliance.

The position requires a senior leader with 12+ years of experience, a PE license, and strong business development capabilities to grow the NJ

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in engineering, transportation, infrastructure, and/or project delivery.
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) License required (multi-state preferred).
• Strong leadership and interpersonal communication; ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
• Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and strategic decision-making under pressure.
• Willingness to travel as needed by projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive leadership for the structural engineering discipline, directing projects and teams to deliver high-quality results.
• Review permits, designs, specifications, and estimates; support construction with inspections as needed.
• Conduct quality controls and constructability reviews throughout project duration.
• Lead large, complex structural projects, manage budgets, and coordinate with subcontractors and staff.
• Develop and pursue business opportunities for current and future infrastructure projects in the geography.
• Support growth strategy and pipeline development with regional leaders for NJ-related projects.
• Collaborate with leaders to drive profitability, control overhead, and improve processes.
• Prepare annual tactical plans and contribute to local growth and forecasting.
