Job summary

Wounded Warrior Project seeks a Senior National Service Officer-Appeals to advocate for alumni and their families in VA benefits appeals. You will draft complex decisions, manage appeals, review evidence, and train teammates to improve outcomes.

The role requires deep knowledge of veterans law, strong writing and research skills, and the ability to build relationships with VA offices and veterans organizations. Hybrid work is offered with a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience as a veteran's benefits advocate.
• Knowledge of Title 38 U.S. Code and CFR applicable to veterans benefits.
• Juris Doctorate may be considered in lieu of advocate experience.
• ASIST Certification within 1 year of hire is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft decisions for review by a Veterans Law Judge (VLJ).
• Manage appeals dockets and prepare appellate briefs.
• Review credibility and probative value of medical and lay evidence.
• Assist Benefits Training team to train teammates on appeal best practices.
• Conduct research and provide support to policy/government affairs teams.
• Develop relationships with BVA Chair/Board members and Veterans Service Organizations.
