Job summary

Geotab is seeking a Senior Vehicle Systems Engineer to lead complex vehicle reverse‑engineering projects and develop safe, reliable vehicle data solutions that support Geotab’s products.

You will collaborate with Vehicle Integrations, hardware, software and data teams, mentor colleagues, and drive data‑quality improvements while navigating a fast‑paced, global environment. A strong background in vehicle architecture and communication protocols is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer, Automotive Engineering or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 5–8 years of experience with vehicle systems, sensors, actuators, controls, and diagnostics.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle architecture, embedded systems and CAN bus; familiarity with OBD‑II, J1939, KWP and UDS.
• Experience diagnosing vehicle issues using CAN analysis software and testing tools.
• Understanding of AUTOSAR and automotive software architectures; Automotive Ethernet/DoIP is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills; prior technical leadership or mentoring.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 25% and hold a valid passport and driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex vehicle investigations and reverse engineering projects to improve data quality and reliability.
• Define safe, reliable interfaces for vehicle communications and containment strategies.
• Develop test plans and validation approaches with cross‑functional teams.
• Identify and resolve high‑priority vehicle data quality issues and support test solution design.
• Deliver engineering requirements with clear documentation and participate in code reviews (Git).
• Design monitors and dashboards to assess feature flags and inform release strategies.
