Job summary

Geotab is seeking a Vehicle Systems Engineer to research and reverse‑engineer vehicle systems, develop data capture methods, and improve global vehicle support. You will work with hardware, firmware, and software teams to define data and diagnostics needs.

Applicants should have 1–3 years in related areas and be proficient in Python/MATLAB, embedded C/C++, and SAE/ISO standards. A bachelor’s degree is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in vehicle systems, sensors, actuators, and diagnostics.
• Experience with SAE J1939/J1979, KWP2000, ISO 14229, or ISO 27145.
• Exposure to vehicle communication layers (CAN, K‑Line, VPW/PWM).

Responsibilities

• Investigate vehicle electrical, hardware, and communications systems.
• Develop methods to collect vehicle data and document requirements for hardware/firmware teams.
• Create and modify test software/firmware and analyze data quality issues.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams and OEMs on data/diagnostics.
• Document root causes and contribute to global reverse engineering tools.
