Job summary

C.D. Smith Construction, Inc. is seeking a VDC/BIM Specialist to integrate virtual design and construction concepts into our project workflows. You will support the Director of VDC by developing services, guidelines, and execution plans for BIM workflows across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology, Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience/training.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of VDC in developing VDC services, processes, and guidelines.
• Assist with Research and Development, championing new technologies to improve workflows.
• Develop BIM execution plans and MEP kickoff agendas to meet project goals.
• Coordinate design and model changes with other disciplines.
• Track design and trade issues and coordinate resolutions with project teams.
• Build virtual construction models from plans and design models for self-perform work and pursuits.
• Create 2D/3D site layout points and lift drawings for field operations.
• Process laser scan data to validate renovation work and verify construction quality.
• Derive material quantities from models and track delta changes for cost control.
• Produce 4D schedules of planned construction sequences.
• Compile as-built data and BIM data for project close-out.
• Train staff to use models and leverage data.
• Stay current on AEC tech developments.
• Utilize drones and related tech to support construction processes.
