Job summary

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) in Los Angeles, CA seeks a Senior National Service Officer-Appeals (SNSO-Appeals) to advocate for veterans before the VA. You will draft decisions, manage appeals, and guide claim strategies while working with Benefits Services to support alumni and their families.

The role requires expertise in veterans law, appellate research, and strong communication skills, with a collaborative, mission-driven team and a flexible hybrid schedule that balances office and remote

Qualifications

• Five years of experience as a veteran's benefits advocate.
• Juris Doctorate may be considered in lieu of advocate experience.
• ASIST Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft decisions, including those of exceptional difficulty, for VLJ review.
• Ensure proper drafting, editing, and management of appealed issues.
• Review credibility and probative value of medical and lay evidence.
• Manage appeals dockets and distribute electronically to field staff.
• Prepare appellate briefs and conduct hearings docketed at the BVA.
• Review Board decisions and determine cases for Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
• Assist Benefits Training team on best practices in structuring arguments.
