Job summary

Wounded Warrior Project seeks a Senior National Service Officer-Appeals (SNSO-Appeals) to advocate for alumni and their families in VA benefits appeals. You will draft, edit, and manage appeals, review evidence, prepare briefs, and conduct hearings before the BVA and Courts of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

The role emphasizes regulatory knowledge, strong drafting and communication skills, and collaboration with Benefits Services and external VA partners in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience as a veteran's benefits advocate; JD may substitute for advocacy experience.

Responsibilities

• Draft decisions for review by VLJ.
• Edit and manage appealed issues before the BVA.
• Review credibility of medical and lay evidence.
• Manage appeals dockets and distribute electronically.
• Prepare appellate briefs and conduct hearings.
• Review Board decisions and route to Courts of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
• Assist Benefits Training team on best practices.
• Conduct policy-related research for WWP and partners.
• Develop relationships with VA officials and VSOs.
• Maintain accreditation standards with VA and complete required CLE.
