Job summary

ACRT, Inc. is seeking a Contract Utility Forester to perform tree and brush assessments along utility lines and coordinate vegetation clearance work. The role emphasizes independent field work across a defined geographic area in Indiana.

Requirements include forestry-related degrees or equivalent experience, GIS and office software skills, and valid driver's license. The position offers competitive benefits and potential ESOP participation.

Qualifications

• Two- or four-year forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resources degree or related field or high school diploma/GED plus two years of UVM experience.
• Previous Vegetation management experience preferred.
• ISA Arborist certification preferred.
• Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with GIS data collection software/hardware preferred but not required.
• Self-motivated, organized, production oriented.
• Able to manage a geographical area and work independently.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Able to multi‑task and manage time effectively.
• Able to work in varied terrain and inclement weather, with flexible schedules.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Identify, inspect, and evaluate trees and brush along utility lines.
• Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations.
• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of assigned line clearance crews.
• Discuss and negotiate line clearance crew access issues.
• Serve as liaison between clients, tree crews, and client customers.
