Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a project manager to oversee one or more complex projects or a program area within a matrix team. You will provide leadership, define scope, plan, execute, monitor and close projects safely, efficiently, and in alignment with business goals while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders including customers, contractors, and regulators.

Qualifications

• Experience in project management across construction/production environments.
• Familiarity with Waterfall and Agile project management.
• Candidate should be prepared for PM knowledge areas across scope, cost, risk, etc.
• PMP preferred but not required; PMP within 12 months may be required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise project/outage activities.
• Ensure safety policies and Zero Harm focus in all work.
• Develop and manage project plans, budgets, and staffing.
• Communicate detailed status updates and stakeholder reports.
• Lead planning meetings and stakeholder presentations.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal/external customers and vendors.
• Mentor project staff and support development activities.
• Represent AEP with customers, vendors and regulators as needed.
• Develop procurement plans and manage outside contracts.
• Manage program closeout and assess project benefits.
• Adhere to AEP governance and standards for PM.
• Oversee multiple projects and ensure alignment with business goals.
