Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a senior underwriting leader for the Large Construction portfolio in the United States. You will deliver technical expertise, act as a primary contact for frontline underwriters, and shape portfolio strategies to drive performance.

You will collaborate with leaders across underwriting, claims, actuarial and product teams to optimize exposure, pricing, and service. A related bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of coverage forms, exclusions, and exposure.
• 10+ years of underwriting experience in construction or related lines.
• Strong collaboration with brokers and underwriting teams.
• Ability to lead portfolio strategy and pricing decisions.
• Ability to analyze and improve performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Provides expert technical underwriting assistance and formal referral approval for multiple lines of business (auto, general liability, workers' compensation, and lead/excess) in Large Construction.
• Ensures continuity and alignment between Primary Casualty and Excess (as applicable) placements. Supports leadership on transactions and serves as a trusted advisor on exposure, coverage analysis, and key pricing/financial elements within their authority.
• Monitors frameworks for underwriting decisions and recommends improvements. Evaluates portfolio performance in Large Construction, working with Underwriting Leaders to identify drivers of performance, risks, and opportunities.
• Drives UW technical excellence across Large Construction, working with Underwriting Leaders to identify and resolve issues.
• Works with underwriting leaders to identify product and service enhancements and underwriter capability development opportunities and coordinates improvements/resources.
• Models effective collaboration within/across teams, stakeholders and partners.
