Job summary

Axos Bank seeks a Sr. Commercial Underwriting Associate to support evaluation, structuring, and underwriting of complex asset-based and specialty finance transactions. You will analyze financial data, build models, and advise on credit risk throughout the lifecycle.

The role requires 4+ years in commercial underwriting or related fields, strong analytical skills, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, corporate environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, economics, accounting, business, or related field.
• 4+ years in commercial underwriting, credit analysis, asset-based lending, or structured finance.
• Strong knowledge of credit analysis, cash flow underwriting, and complex lending structures.
• Experience with collateral-backed transactions and portfolio performance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and underwrite commercial lending opportunities focusing on asset-based and structured finance.
• Review financial statements, collateral performance, borrowing bases, and due diligence materials.
• Build complex financial models to evaluate credit quality and repayment capacity.
• Assess transaction structures, collateral, advance rates, and risk factors.
• Prepare credit memoranda and present recommendations to leadership.
• Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, Legal, and Operations for execution.
• Support enhancements to underwriting processes, tools, and reporting.
