Job summary

Travelers Insurance is seeking an experienced Underwriter for the Construction Services team. The role blends evaluating financial and business risk with client and broker relations to deliver insurance and surety solutions.

The Account Executive Officer will analyze risk, negotiate terms, and drive profitability across a diverse book of business, traveling to meet with agents and brokers as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Five to eight years of underwriting experience.
• Deep knowledge of products, regulatory environment, and local insurance markets.
• Strong critical thinking with ability to underwrite, market products, and analyze information.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills with agents and brokers.
• Experience coaching and mentoring others.
• Four years of underwriting, product knowledge, financial analysis, or risk assessment experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Execute underwriting strategies to achieve profit and growth objectives.
• Cultivate relationships with internal partners to identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Meet with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products; travel as needed.
• Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative sales skills.
• Develop and execute agency sales plans aligned with regional goals.
• Train and mentor less experienced underwriters.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
