Job summary

AEP is seeking an Engineer Senior/Principal to perform advanced engineering work and lead cross-functional teams. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and economic project execution across high- and extra-high voltage underground transmission initiatives.

Qualifications

• Four (4) or more years of related engineering experience with a Bachelor's in engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Two (2) years of related engineering experience with a Master's or PhD in engineering (ABET-accredited).
• PE license encouraged and preferred; eligibility considerations noted for PR and non-ABET paths.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a leader within the organization with journey-level to advanced engineering knowledge.
• Provide training, guidance, and direction to other engineers; coordinate and lead work activities.
• Identify and resolve routine and complex engineering problems; apply structured analysis to data.
• Communicate findings clearly; prepare technical reports for management and regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate across disciplines; network to drive project delivery and decisions.
• Make decisions impacting plans, goals, and project outcomes with risk awareness and mitigation.
