Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to design underground transmission lines up to 500kV. The role includes routing, manhole placement, duct bank layouts, and ampacity calculations, with vendor coordination and a small project team leadership.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days. A relocation package may be available depending on location.

Qualifications

• BS degree from ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Proficiency with CYMCAP modeling.
• Proficiency with cable tensioning calculations or software.
• 7+ years on underground transmission projects with budgets/schedules.
• Experience with design codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, IEC, etc).
• Experience with specifications for installation and procurement of line materials.

Responsibilities

• Design underground transmission lines up to 500kV with routing and manhole placement.
• Conduct cost analyses, develop criteria, and manage siting and duct bank layouts.
• Create drawings, cable selections, bonding schemes, and ampacity calculations.
• Coordinate with vendors and clients to specify transmission components.
• Lead a small project team of engineers, designers and drafters.
• Develop riser configurations and structural loading analyses.
