Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced engineer to design underground transmission lines up to 500 kV, including duct banks, manholes, and cable selection. You will lead a small project team and coordinate with vendors and clients, ensuring adherence to codes and budgets.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and relocation assistance based on location. A BS from an ABET-accredited program and strong CYMCAP/cable design skills are required.

Qualifications

• BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required.
• Proficiency with CYMCAP modeling.
• Proficiency with cable tensioning calculations and/or software.
• 7+ years of project experience in underground transmission.
• Design experience with code requirements, EPRI, client standards.
• Experience with cost estimates and scheduling.
• Experience with XLPE cable design.
• Experience preparing specifications for installation and procurement of underground transmission line materials.

Responsibilities

• Design underground transmission lines for voltages up to 500 kV.
• Lead cost analyses, design criteria development, siting and routing, and manhole placement.
• Develop duct bank layouts, trenchless designs, and cable pulling calculations.
• Specify cables, bonding schemes, and perform ampacity calculations.
• Develop riser structures and structural loading.
• Prepare installation and procurement specifications for materials and equipment.
• Coordinate with vendors/clients to specify transmission line components.
• Direct a small project team of engineers, designers, and drafters.
