Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced leader to design complex underground transmission lines up to 500kV in the United States. You will guide a multidisciplinary team, develop installation specifications, and coordinate with vendors and clients while ensuring code compliance and accurate cost estimates.

The role emphasizes leadership, advanced cable design, and the use of modeling tools, with a hybrid office arrangement and relocation assistance depending on location.

Qualifications

• This position requires a BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Have current PE License
• Proficiency with CYMCAP modeling
• Proficiency with cable tensioning calculations and software
• 12 or more years of experience leading a design team in underground transmission projects
• Experience with code-based design including NESC, IEC, IEEE, AISC
• Experience with cost estimate development and schedule creation
• Experience with XLPE cable design

Responsibilities

• Design of complex underground transmission lines for voltages up to 500kV
• Lead a design team of engineers, designers and drafters
• Develop specifications for installation and procurement of materials
• Coordinate with vendors and clients on transmission line components
• Perform ampacity calculations and cable selection studies
• Ensure compliance with codes and standards and prepare supporting documentation
