Sargent & Lundy in the United States seeks an experienced engineer to design underground transmission lines up to 500kV, perform cost analyses, routing, manhole placement, and develop duct bank layouts. You will coordinate with vendors and clients and lead a small project team.

Qualifications

• BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Proficiency with CYMCAP modeling.
• Proficiency with cable tensioning calculations and/or software.
• 7+ years on project teams with schedules and budgets.
• Design experience with codes, EPRI, and client requirements.
• Experience with cost estimate development and scheduling.
• Experience with XLPE cable design.
• Experience preparing installation/procurement specs for underground transmission materials.
• Knowledge to verify right-of-way requirements and construction docs.
• Familiarity with design techniques and producing technical plans/drawings/models.
• Experience writing engineering calculations documentation.
• Familiarity with NESC, EPRI Green Book, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design underground transmission lines up to 500kV.
• Conduct cost analyses, develop design criteria, routing, and manhole placements.
• Create duct bank layouts and trenchless designs; perform cable pulling calculations.
• Develop cable bonding schemes and perform ampacity calculations.
• Develop riser configurations and structural loading.
• Prepare specifications for cable procurement and installation.
• Coordinate with vendors and clients on transmission line components.
• Direct a small project team of engineers, designers, and drafters.
