Job summary

AECOM in the United States is seeking an Underground Transmission Designer to join our Energy practice in a remote role based anywhere in the United States. You will lead the design and delivery of critical underground transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and grid modernization projects.

You will work with the Power Delivery team to deliver reliable substation solutions, enabling grid expansion, renewable integration, and infrastructure modernization.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Electrical Engineering required; 6+ years equivalency accepted.
• Experience designing transmission and distribution substation projects.
• Strong understanding of power delivery systems and utility infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and design of transmission and distribution substations for utility and renewable energy clients.
• Provide technical oversight for substation layouts, protection, grounding, and controls.
• Develop one-line diagrams, protection schemes, and design documentation.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with project managers and clients.
