Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Sr. Lead Substation Engineer to join our Energy practice in a remote role based anywhere in the United States.

You will lead the design and delivery of transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and grid modernization projects while collaborating with some of the industry's top engineering professionals. The ideal candidate has 12+ years in electrical engineering, a PE license, and hands-on experience with substations, protection and control, and power delivery systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required or equivalent.
12+ years of experience in transmission/distribution substations.
Experience with power delivery systems, IEEE, NESC, NEC knowledge.
Experience leading engineering tasks and coordinating project teams.
Experience with substation design tools and studies.

Responsibilities

Lead the engineering and design of transmission and distribution substation projects for utilities and renewables.
Provide technical oversight for substation physical design, protection and control, grounding, and equipment layouts.
Develop and review one-line diagrams, protection schemes, and construction packages.
Support studies related to grounding, fault currents, and equipment sizing.
Mentor engineers and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams.
Support client engagement and project delivery through to construction.
