Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead SRM TVC design, development, and qualification. You’ll own TVC architectures, drive mechanism actuation design, manage key interfaces, and run TVC test campaigns to de-risk new concepts and qualify systems.

You’ll work on the build floor with technicians, integrating hardware and resolving issues in real time, while collaborating across programs to apply scalable, high-rate production practices for reliable TVC systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with thrust vector control systems or related flight-control actuation.
• Experience with SRM TVC design, analysis, and integration into solid rocket motor architectures.
• Ability to size and analyze TVC mechanisms and actuation systems.
• Proficiency with CAD and engineering analysis tools.
• Strong fundamentals in structural mechanics, dynamics, and actuators.
• Eligibility for U.S. DoD Secret Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of SRM TVC systems and components (joints, gimbal/actuators, nozzle interfaces).
• Translate requirements into manufacturable TVC designs meeting performance targets.
• Execute design trades across architectures, materials, and processes.
• Define TVC design and performance requirements for flight and structure.
• Plan and support TVC test campaigns from components to full-scale demonstrations.
• Review test data and drive design or process changes.
• Provide hands-on support for prototype assembly and testing on the build floor.
• Collaborate with analysis, manufacturing, test, systems, and supply chain teams.
• Maintain realistic project schedules and risk mitigation plans.
• Produce CAD models and drawings per ASME standards.
• Maintain technical documentation and verification evidence.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers.
