Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Senior Responsible Engineer for Solid Missile Systems to lead a multidisciplinary team through SRM development and deployment. You will own system architecture, drive design maturity, and coordinate qualification efforts to ensure safe, production-ready propulsion solutions.

You will partner with the SMS and program leaders to manage risk, perform analyses, and oversee testing, ensuring adherence to performance goals while controlling cost and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or related engineering discipline is required.
• 5+ years of propulsion or aerospace product development experience, including solid rocket motor design and systems integration.
• Demonstrated technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with SRM subsystems including cases, nozzles, insulation, and grain design.
• Strong systems thinking, balancing performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and evolution of SRM architecture across programs and lead trade studies.
• Manage product maturity from concept through development and qualification campaigns.
• Plan and coordinate product qualification activities and testing.
• Direct propulsion performance analyses including mass properties, trajectory coupling, and thermal/structural margins.
• Ensure design-for-manufacture considerations and cost-awareness in production readiness.
